How jackpot games work

A jackpot game is an ordinary game with an extra prize attached. A fixed jackpot is a set amount defined by the game's rules. A progressive jackpot grows because a small share of each qualifying stake is added to a shared pool, which resets to a seed amount after it is awarded.

The jackpot is triggered by the rules published inside the game — usually a specific symbol combination or a randomly entered bonus round. Some games require a particular stake or a side bet to qualify; the game's own help screen states this, and it is worth reading before the first round.

Worth being clear about: jackpot outcomes are random and the chance of triggering one is very small. The size of a pool tells you nothing about how likely it is to be awarded, and it does not become more likely as it grows. Never treat a jackpot game as a plan for money.

Decide your stake and your time in advance, and use the tools in Responsible Gambling if you want hard limits in place.
